2.0beta - terrain?

Thank you for making the 2.0beta2 available.

I downloaded it and it compiled fine.

I'm just wondering, will there be / is there a terrain system in xen?

I too, have been trying to figure this out.


I scrapped my rendering and switched to xen (bcs xen is awesome :D), and have been trying to convert my terrain system to xen. Maybe i need to step back a bit and figure out how to convert my data to xen. If anyone has any pointers that would be great.

Unfortunately I don't have any plans to add any built in terrain support. Terrain is one of those things that has endless scope - you can start with a simple height field mesh and go all the way to dynamic LODs, fully sculpted geometry, holes, lighting, vegetation, texture splatting etc etc etc. It's just endless really, and very much not a one-size-fits-all-games kind of thing. (I know that's an excuse :)

If you can be more specific about the problems you are having, I'll be happy to help.

Unfortunately, I'm extremely busy now days (I swear my weeks feel like they are 2 days long right now :-) so I do apologize if I'm a bit slow to respond
